How it is made
Our crafted scents are responsibly sourced, small-batch processed, and include blends of Himalayan cedar oil, lemongrass, and spearmint. They are all natural and homeopathic, specifically formulated to be pleasant and distinct yet not greatly noticeable to humans. All of our scents are non-irritating and non-toxic to cats and dogs. Absolutely no clove oil is used.
The Bkinz markers are not pre-scented because it's very important that you assess your own pet's tolerance level. You will be able to determine how much scent your pet needs in order to alert the Bkinz. Reapply as needed so you can control the program for your dog or cat.
Made with only non-toxic, pleasantly scented ingredients, SightScent™ products are safe, effective, and empathetic to you and your pets' needs.
Tips & Tricks
Pace Yourself
You know your pet best. Please proceed at a pace that helps them succeed and build confidence. It's important to reach success with your first scent before introducing Scent #2. Proceed to Scent #3, the "no go" scent only after your pet has learned the first two. Begin mapping with the higher priority target items first.
Plan Ahead
Remove obstacles from areas where your pet needs to go, creating safe zones and paths. Think about your Bkinz™ pathways and destination markers before you place them. It is important to establish a safe zone that is comfortable and safe, like a retreat zone.
Patience is the Key to Success
Start with one scent at a time and move on to the next scent only after your pet has mastered the first scent. Training is important and may take some time.

SightScent™ was developed because our pug went deaf and blind within three weeks. We all know how hard it is to train Pugs, that’s for sure!
We found that the best way to train your pet to use the Bkinz™ markers is to repetitively place your pet by the water bowl where they can smell the Bkinz. They will begin to associate the smell with the particular item. Similarly, placing your pet by the threshold of the door and allowing them to sniff the beacon and then gently moving them over the threshold gives them the idea that that is their navigational point. After several months, our Enzo was actually able to jump off of a couch onto the floor with the assistance of the scent markers. Although pugs don’t have the greatest sense of smell, they will begin to associate that smell with the target item if you simply place them in front of it and let them recognize where they are.
